Post-herpetic neuralgia is pain that lingers along a nerve after the shingles rash has already cleared. It can be burning or stabbing, or triggered by the lightest touch on the skin, and sometimes it lasts for months. It most often affects the chest, along the intercostal nerves, or the face.
